Congruences via fibered motives, II

We explain the principle whereby the existence of a Fano topology with certain numerical property might lead to congruences between automorphic forms, and prove an arithmetic--geometric counterpart of a congruence between a paramodular form and a Hilbert modular form by fibering out a Calabi--Yau motive.
