The notion of Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra appears in any many fields of mathematics like differential geometry, mathematical physics and algebraic topology for instance. In this talk, I will make the minimal model of the operad encoding Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras explicit. The main application is a homotopy interpretation and generalization of a result of Barannikov-Kontsevich and Manin, which states that the homology of a BV-algebra, satisfying some conditions, carries a Frobenius manifold structure.

It is known that two number fields with the same Dedekind zeta function  are not necessarily isomorphic. The zeta function of a number field can be interpreted as the  partition function of an associated quantum statistical mechanical system.

In some rather simple cases (like associative algebras case) all necessary structures on the deformation complex (the Hochschild cohomological complex) can be constructed ''by hand''. Here we mean the Gerstenhaber Lie bracket and the cup-product. On the other hand, HH(A)=Ext(A,A) in the category of A-bimodules. The crucial remark is: the category of A-bimodules is monoidal, and A is the unit object in it. It is interesting and instructive for further cases to prove that HH(A) is a 2-algebra only from the above property. We discuss this construction, due to S.Schwede.

The aim of the talk is to report on the recent progress in
computing and analyzing the large genus behavior of the Weil-Petersson
volumes of moduli spaces of complex algebraic curves resulting from the
work of M.Mirzakhani and the speaker.

The notion of a symmetric operad is a generalisation of that of an associative algebra, just for a monoidal category larger than the tensor category of vector spaces. For a long while, several ingredients that proved to be useful in homological algebra for associative algebras (e.g. Groebner bases, Anick-type resolutions etc.), have been missing in the case of operads, since the monoidal category in question appears to have too rich structure for those approaches to work.

The purpose of this talk is to show that cusp forms and cusp singularities are not merely homonyms but are related on a deeper level. More specifically, there is relation between Fuchsian triangle groups and their automorphic forms, and quasi-homogeneous singularities of affine plane curves. The prototypical example is the modular group PSL(2,Z): the quotient of the nonzero tangent bundle on the upper-half plane by the action of PSL(2,Z) is biholomorphic to the complement of the plane curve z^3-27w^2=0.

Linear (topological) dynamics studies the orbits of the action of
a semigroup of continuous linear operators on a topological vector space.
We are mostly interested in chaotic-type properties like the existence of a
dense orbit.
The aim of this talk is two-fold: to give an overview of the current state
of (chaotic) linear dynamics and to describe few recent results of the
author. One of the results, we are going to describe boils down to the
construction of a (non-unital) Banach algebra $A$  and  an element $a$  of

Let G be a connected semisimple algebraic group defined over complex number C and let g:=Lie G, r:=rank G. It is well known that for all x from G centralizer Z(x)
has dimension bigger or equal then r. Moreover, there exists only one orbit Ge
of nilpotent elements e such that dim(z(e))=r. Such nilpotent elements are called principal ones. By Morozov-Jacobson theorem each nipotent element e can be embedded in a 3-dimensional simple subalgebra, with basis  (f,h,e) in g.
