Lagrangian fibrations on irreducible symplectic varieties

The objective of the talk is to survey some recent advances in the understanding of  Lagrangian fibrations on holomorphically symplectic varieties. These include criteria for their existence, explicit constructions and some partial results towards а solution of the compactification problem.
