Seminar Algebraic Geometry (SAG) An important (and still open) question in algebraic geometry is to to find a geometric compactification for the moduli of polarized K3 surfaces. In this talk, I will survey some recent approaches to this problem. My focus will be on explaining the interplay between arithmetic, combinatorics, and geometry in the study of degenerations of K3 surfaces.
