Number theory lunch seminar In the late 1980’s John Greene and Nick Katz independently introduced
complex-valued functions on finite fields, which are analogues of the clas-
sical analytic hypergeometric functions. Despite their arithmetic nature
they display many properties that have a remarkable similarity with their
analytic counterparts.
