Introduction to the Gauss circle problem in the hyperbolic plane

We will briefly review the classical Gauss circle problem, and explain how is defined the
analogous problem in hyperbolic geometry. The tools to analyse the problem are a combination
of classical methods from analytic number theory, and methods from the spectral theory of
forms.
