July 1 – September 30, 2013
Max-Planck-Institute for Mathematics, Bonn
organized by D. Grigoriev, I. Itenberg, H. Markwig and G. Mikhalkin
Four mini-courses will be organized during the program:
- Erwan Brugallé, "Tropical curves",
July, Thu 13:30-14:30, the first lecture is on July 4.
The aim of this mini-course is to give a basic introduction to tropical curves, with an emphasize on their applications to enumerative geometry. - Oleg Viro, "Topology of real algebraic and tropical varieties",
July-August, Tue 10:30-11:30, the first lecture is on July 9.
The purpose of lectures is to provide a broad and self-contained introduction to topology of real algebraic varieties and their tropical counter-parts. - Conan Leung: "SYZ mirror symmetry",
Thu 13:30 - 14:45, the lecture dates are Aug 15, 22 and 29.
In this lecture series, I explain the SYZ proposal which explains mirror symmetry as a duality between complex geometry and symplectic geometry via a fiberwise Fourier transformation along Lagrangian fibrations. - Sergei Galkin: "Geometry of Fano manifolds",
Tue, September 10, 10:30 - 11:45,
Thu, September 12, 13:30 - 14:45,
Thu, September 19, 13:30 - 14:45 (MPIM Seminar Room),
Tue, September 24, 10:30 - 11:45.
I'll give a review on minimal model program, the special role that Fano varieties play in it, and the importance of rational curves for studying both, with a few occasional interludes into Gromov-Witten theory.
The mini-courses are designated to Ph.D. students, post-docs, and participants of the program. They will be complemented by a regular program seminar (Tue 16:30-17:30) and by a student seminar (Wed 14:30-16).
The program conference will take place from September 2 to September 6, 2013.
