A tensor-triangulated category (tt-category) can be thought of as a "categorification" of a ring. In particular, one can assign to any tt-category a topological space which plays the role of the Zariski spectrum of a ring. In this talk I will describe how this space can be constructed using classical lattice theoretic techniques, before reporting on joint work with Greg Stevenson where we use similar techniques to produce a finer invariant of badly-behaved tt-categories.
