Topic 1a, Knots, Links and the group of 2-spheres in 4-space

We will begin with basics on knots, links and 4-manifolds and then focus on Whitney towers (Rob)
and Z-surfaces (Pete) in the 4-ball.
In the second half of the semester, we’ll move on to more general ambient 4-manifolds.
