The category of synthetic spectra based on some homology theory augments that of spectra by remembering the comodule structure on homology groups. In recent years, synthetic methods have been a very fruitful technique, with diverse applications. In this talk, I will discuss an unstable analogue, which augments the category of pointed connected spaces (animae) by remembering a canonical filtration defined by Curtis. I'll discuss the background, and potential applications.
