Open Access

The Max Planck Society and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics actively endorse open access of research publications. If you publish under the MPIM-affliation your article processing charges might be covered by central funds from MPDL, or you can apply for a MPIM grant. For more information contact the librarian.

General Information and policies

The MPIM library is a special library mainly serving the needs of scientific staff and guests of the Institute.  The library collection includes books, journals, e-books, e-journals and databases. The library has also three daily newspapers in print: General Anzeiger, International New York Times and Süddeutsche Zeitung. Guests have also access to the online version of International New York Times and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

E-book packages

The library functions mainly as a reference library and it is strictly forbidden to take any of the books or journals out of the building. You may, however, borrow books or journals to your office.
If the resource you need for your research is not held by the MPIM library, you can make an interlibrary loan request, suggest that we buy the title or check other local libraries.

Hirzebruch Collection

A media archive that collects documents, images, videos, and other resources related to the work and life of the MPIM's founding director Prof. Dr. Friedrich Hirzebruch (1927-2012). As the project is still ongoing, contributions of original documents such as personal photographs or video recordings of talks are welcome.
