Linear forms in logarithms: An introduction

In this talk, we will present the main results of an area called lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers. We will not prove these results, rather state the inequalities, explain the parameters involved and how to calculate them and present a couple of numerical applications to Diophantine equations arising from intersecting two linearly recurrent sequences.
