Dennis Gaitsgory [3], director at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, will be a plenary speaker at the next International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) [4], which will take place on July 23-30, 2026 in Philadelphia. Valentin Blomer and Jessica Fintzen, both members of MPIM's scientific committee, are invited section speakers. In addition, the speakers [5] include a number of former long term or recurring visitors and a former PhD student:
The International Congress of Mathematicians is the largest and the most important conference in mathematics. It meets once every four years, hosted by the International Mathematical Union (IMU). The Fields Medals, the Nevanlinna Prize, the Gauss Prize, and the Chern Medal are awarded during the congress's opening ceremony. Being invited to give a talk at the ICM is considered to be one of the highest honors for a mathematician.
