ONLINE (Seminar on Algebra, Geometry and Physics): Torsion points of abelian varieties and F-isocyrstals

I will present a new result on torsion points of abelian varieties. This is obtained by exploiting both the theory of F-isocrystals and the theory of Tannakian categories. Since I do not assume the audience is familiar with these concepts, during the talk, I will rapidly recall what abelian varieties, F-isocrystals, and Tannakian categories are. In the end, we will see how the original problem can be translated to a problem of representions of certain algebraic groups, called the monodromy groups of the F-isocrystals. This is a joint work with Emiliano Ambrosi.
