Application for Membership

PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for the next meeting is January 17, 2010. In general it is best to apply about one year before the intended starting date of your stay. During June-July we are usually overbooked and hence have to be very strict with invitations for that period. So if possible try to apply outside summer.

If you want to apply for an invitation to the MPI, you can download an application form from

If you have any questions, you can contact us at
application@mpim-bonn.mpg.de.

Applications to the MPIM for research stays should normally be in one of the main working areas of the MPIM (presently: algebraic groups, arithmetic geometry, number theory, representation theory, algebraic and complex geometry, differential geometry and topology, algebraic topology, global analysis, non-commutative geometry, dynamical systems, mathematical physics). If your research area is very far from these, you might consider another Max Planck Institute or other German research organization; the German Embassy can provide adresses.

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. prior to the beginning date of their intended visit. There is also a graduate program, "International Max Planck Research School for Moduli Spaces and their Applications in Algebra, Differential Geometry and Mathematical Physics", specifically for doctoral students whose general field of research is in moduli spaces; further information is available at

www.imprs-modulispaces.mpg.de.

The MPIM does not have an undergraduate or master's level program. Students who wish to pursue their studies in Germany at a pre-doctoral level should contact a German university. The internet address of Bonn University is external link www.verwaltung.uni-bonn.de.
