Oberseminar Differentialgeometrie We discuss the notion of asymptotic and Nagata dimension, with emphasis on examples and applications. In particular, it follows from a recent result of Fujiwara-Papasoglu and a theorem by Brodskiy-Dydak-Levin-Mitra that all planar geodesic metric spaces have Nagata dimension at most two, hence asymptotic dimension at most two. In a recent work written jointly with Urs Lang, this was further applied to prove that every three-dimensional Hadamard manifold have Nagata dimension three and is an absolute Lipschitz retract.
