Course on
"Batalin-Vilkovisky formalism in topological quantum field theories",

at the University of Bonn, starting on October 6, 10:15-12:00,
Endenicher Allee 60 - SemR 0.008. The course is 2hours/week on Mondays
(it is possible to switch to a different time slot later if this one
turns out to be inconvenient), for the Winter semester 2014/15. A
preliminary program is available here
http://guests.mpim-bonn.mpg.de/pmnev/
(This page will be updated with more information relevant to the course
later.)

The general idea is to introduce the BV formalism from scratch, as a
solution to the problem of gauge-fixing in gauge systems (with an
emphasis on topological field theories), and to elaborate on connections
with symplectic geometry and relevant homological algebra structures (in
particular, the homotopy transfer of certain homotopy algebras).
Finally, [time permitting and depending on the taste of the audience] we
will present some applications of BV formalism, in particular
Kontsevich's deformation quantization and the construction of
perturbative invariants in low-dimensional topology.
