Observables of a QFT can be encoded mathematically as a factorization algebra on space-time.
Extending a concept going back to Beilinson-Drinfeld, Costello, Gwilliam and others have
constructed several physically relevant classical BV theories, for which the perturbative
quantizations exist in this language. In this talk, we will discuss joint work with Bill Dwyer
and Stephan Stolz, showing how geometric factorization algebras lead to twisted geometric
field theories
a la Atiyah-Segal-Witten.
