MPI-Oberseminar We explain how to use Topological Quantum Field Theory (TQFT) to construct certain
highest weight modules for symplectic groups over finite fields in the natural characteristic.
As an application, we obtain previously unknown dimension and character formulas for
these highest weights. No previous knowledge of TQFT or modular representation theory
will be required.
