Conference on "100 Years of Artin's Primitive Root Conjecture", August 9–13, 2027

This conference marks the centenary of Artin's celebrated 1927 conjecture on primitive roots, one of the most influential and enduring open problems in number theory. Over the past century, Artin's conjecture has inspired fundamental developments in both analytic and algebraic number theory, including deep connections with $L$-functions, sieve methods, Galois and Kummer theory, arithmetic statistics, modular forms, and arithmetic geometry. While Christopher Hooley established the conjecture under the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis, its unconditional resolution remains a major challenge, despite significant recent progress. The conference aims to commemorate this centenary by bringing together leading experts and early-career researchers to present recent advances, discuss outstanding challenges, exchange ideas across analytic and algebraic number theory, and identify promising directions for future research.
