Special Colloquium for Werner Ballmann Surfaces and higher rank symmetric spaces play an important role in Werner Ballmann's career.
In this talk we will bring surfaces and higher rank symmetric spaces together in a different spirit.
We introduce (particularly nice) actions of surface groups on higher rank symmetric spaces and
discuss their geometric and dynamical properties.
