The International Congress of Mathematicians 2022 (ICM 2022), which was originally planned for St. Petersburg, will now take place as a fully virtual event over 5–14 July 2022. In order to keep some of the spirit of the ICM, all talks will be streamed live in the MPIM lecture hall (except on the weekend). Three of the talks will be given in person at MPIM by Bernhard Schölkopf, Marc Levine, and Catharina Stroppel. The mathematicians of the Bonn area are kindly invited to convene at MPIM and take part in the virtual ICM 2022 as a community.

No live stream at MPIM on the weekend (July 9+10).

IMU Award Ceremony on July 5th

The award ceremony will take place in Helsinki on July 5th from 9:00-15:15h in Helsinki. The event will be broadcast live in the MPIM lecture hall and can also be watched live on Youtube. The fields medalists will be announced at the beginning of the ceremony. Here is a link to the program of the award ceremony (note that the times are in EEST. CEST is minus 1 hour).

The Azat Miftakhov Days Against the War

The award ceremony will be followed by an event in support of Azat Miftakhov, the Russian mathematician who was imprisoned in 2019 for his political views and sentenced to six years imprisonment in a penal colony for "hooliganism". The event will take place online on July 5th, from 16:00-19:00h, with math talks from Alexander Petrov (Harvard/MPIM), Ilya Dumanski (MIT), and Slava Rychkov (IHES). Here is the link to the program.

Program of the Virtual ICM 2022

If you haven't registered for the ICM Online-Plattform, you can watch ICM 2022 on the IMU Youtube Channel, which collects recordings and shows (some) talks as live stream.

The in person talks given in the MPIM lecture hall will be on:

Monday, July 11, 14:15-15:00h (Schölkopf)
Tuesday, July 12, 14:15-15:00h (Levine)
Wednesday, July 13, 10:15-11:15 (Stroppel)

For technical reasons, it will not be feasible to ask questions during the talks. For the audience in the lecture hall, there will be a short discussion after each talk. Here is the time table for the talks of the virtual ICM 2022.

Registration for award ceremony and talks of Fields medalists on July 5+6

We expect the award ceremony on July 5th and the talks of Fields medalists on July 6th to draw the largest audience of the event. Due to our space restrictions we ask everybody who would like to attend these events in the MPIM lecture hall on July 5+6 to kindly register here (registration closed). For all other talks on July 7-14 no registration is necessary.
