The dynamical zeta function for a hyperbolic flow is a complex function defined by analogy with the Riemann zeta function, except that the primes are replaced by closed orbits. We will discuss recent results on their properties in the case of Anosov flows and geodesic flows on negatively curved manifolds - and their applications to the dynamical properties of the flows.
